Vegas doesn’t Clemson basketball to be in the NCAA Tournament very long

The Clemson basketball team will take on Rutgers in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament Friday, but Vegas doesn’t expect the Tigers to be around very long.

Though Clemson basketball is the No. 7 seed and Rutgers is the No. 10 seed, the first odds released on the matchup favored the Scarlet Knights.

According to BetOnline, the Scarlet Knights are a one-point favorite over the Tigers. Rutgers was the only lower seed in the tournament to open up as a favorite. Clemson is listed as a -0.8 point favorite against the Scarlet Knights in the latest odds from the Action Network.

Bulletin board material is never a bad thing and maybe that will help propel Clemson basketball in the first round

There’s nothing wrong with having a little bulletin board material as you enter a pivotal matchup and this is, after all, the most important game of the season to this point.

Clemson should be coming into this one focused and ready to go following its worst loss of the season against a bad Miami team in the ACC Tournament last week.

The Tigers absolutely have the capability of advancing and making a deep run into the tournament. They also have the ability to fall flat on their face and be a ‘one-and-done’ elimination. As we enter the NCAA Tournament, the Vegas oddsmakers seem to be betting on the latter.

Clemson and Rutgers will tipoff at 9:20 p.m. E.T. Friday evening on TBS in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The winner of the matchup will play the winner of No. 2-seeded Houston and No. 15-seeded Cleveland State in the second-round. Those two will play right before the Tigers and Scarlet Knights at 7:15 p.m. E.T. on TruTV.
