Ajou Ajou could be a monster for Clemson football in 2021

The Clemson football program is about to have the deepest stable of wide receivers in recent years, but there’s one name many Tiger fans are forgetting.

We’ve already harped on the talent of many wide receivers like Justyn Ross, Joseph Ngata, Frank Ladson Jr. and E.J. Williams. Many Clemson football fans are looking forward to seeing true-freshmen Beaux Collins and Dacari Collins- both 4-stars out of high school- get on the field and show their athletic ability.

There’s an intrigue to see how 5-star APB Will Shipley could factor into the receiving rotation as he potentially plays snaps both in the backfield and in the slot.

But no one seems to remember about the potential impact that could be made by redshirt freshman Ajou Ajou.

Amari Rodgers reminded Clemson football fans just how dangerous Ajou Ajou could be for the Tigers moving forward

Rodgers met with the media following Clemson’s Pro Day on Thursday and pegged Ajou as a wide receiver who will surprise people this season.

According to 247 Sports’ Anna Hickey, Rodgers said that Ajou is up to 230 pounds and he has gotten a lot stronger.

That’s absolutely great news for Clemson football fans wanting to see the wide receiver rotation continue to get deeper.

Can you imagine having a guy in your two-deep, potentially even your three-deep, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 230 pounds? If Ajou continues to develop, he has the body type to hold that weight in a good way and be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenders.

Lining him up in that boundary position with his height and weight would be a massive mismatch for most cornerbacks if he can get stronger.

Ajou had times last year where we saw that massive size on display- and he has gotten bigger- but he still was learning the game and was still adjusting to the physical nature of what the Tigers are wanting him to do at this level.

A year in the system and 10 more pounds of muscle could do the trick.

If Ajou is able to get physical and use his strength and uncanny size to his advantage, he could be a monster this season and yet another major asset to this already-stacked Clemson wide receiver room.
