Clemson football: Something Tiger & Ohio State fans can finally agree upon
Something Clemson football & Ohio State fans can finally agree upon
Let’s be honest: There hasn’t been much- if anything- that Clemson football fans have agreed with Ohio State Buckeyes fans on in the last year, if not longer.
Ever since the two teams matched up on the gridiron back in December of 2019, there has been nothing but a war or words between the two fan bases (and even coaching staffs to a point) that spanned throughout the entire year of 2020, and while it may have simmered down slightly, there is still a noted hate between the two groups.
Clemson football fans are counting down the days until the next CFB Playoff hoping the can exact their revenge on the Buckeyes, and OSU fans are reveling in the fact that they were able to get the best of the Tigers in the semifinals this past season after a loss the previous year.
Finally, though, there is something that the two fan bases can come together on. Well, at least in a sense: Chris Simms has no idea what he’s talking about when he is breaking down this 2021 NFL Draft quarterback class.
Chris Simms doesn’t have Trevor Lawrence as the No. 1 quarterback in the class and he has Justin Fields behind Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond.
There’s a lot of ridiculousness in the world, but this probably tops the cake. Clemson football fans & Ohio State fans know better
Anyone who doesn’t have Trevor Lawrence as their top quarterback in this draft class is just asking for attention because he’s clearly the No. 1 prospect and has been all along.
Lawrence exhibits the perfect measurables, elite arm strength (better than any QB in the class by far), and he has played at the highest level. That’s much more than BYU’s Zach Wilson can say.
We’re not knocking Wilson, though. Wilson has a chance to be a great prospect, but the analysts who have him first either simply don’t understand what Lawrence brings to the table or they’re just overthinking it.
We understand the analysts who have Justin Fields a little further down their list of quarterbacks, but Kellen Mond? That’s absolutely absurd.
What has Mond done in his career at Texas A&M to prove he’s worthy of a second-round pick? Much less to be a top-five QB in this class?
No matter where you have Fields in terms of your quarterback rankings, placing Mond over Fields is just laughable.
Are Clemson and Ohio State fans going to come together around the bonfire and sing happy songs? No. But we can at least agree on something.
