Full capacity for Death Valley in sights for 2021 Clemson football season

A significantly-reduced number of Clemson football fans were able to attend a game in Death Valley during the 2020 season, but that could change in 2021.

Nothing has been officially published about the state of Clemson football tickets and plans heading into the 2021 season– which is still six months away- but there are signs that are pointing towards an upward swing in crowd attendance come this fall.

The 2020 Clemson football season saw the Tigers welcome right at about 19,000 fans into Death Valley for each home game during the fall. Those fans were distanced around the stadium, which holds a capacity of around 81,500.

Now, with vaccines being distributed and cases beginning to diminish, there is hope we could see fans return in a big way to stadiums by this fall.

A report from Pro Football Talk earlier in February indicated that optimism was growing about full capacity stadiums for the 2021 NFL season and that salary cap calculations for 2021 were being based on 75 percent capacity.

Now, Alabama AD Greg Byrne has shared plans for what the Crimson Tide will do this coming season. He said the plan, as of now, is to have a full stadium during the 2021 season.

We should expect Clemson football and many other programs around the country to follow suit in terms of plans for the fall

Nothing is a given and much of stadium capacity plans will be structured around what takes place over the next few months.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster just lifted the executive order that required organizers to receive state approval for crowds of 250 or more, and that has paved the way for fans to come back to Death Valley in a major way this fall.

However, that doesn’t mean things can’t change a whole lot between now and then.

Over the course of last spring and summer, we heard hundreds of opinions and we were told that getting a College Football season was ‘next to impossible’ at one point. Fans weren’t able to attend games in the manner that we’ve all grown accustomed to and that energy was sorely missed.

We’re not here to tell you what will happen, but we are here to say that we know Clemson football fans are wanting to get back in the stadium and there are steps being taken in the right direction to make sure that does occur this fall.
