The top linebacker target for Clemson football in the class of 2022 has set his commitment date

The 2022 Clemson football recruiting class is beginning to take shape in terms of the top targets and what the Tigers are looking for at each position.

The Tigers currently hold commitments from three players- all 4-stars- in the cycle and they’ll be looking to take more commitments here in the near future as we head into the spring.

The top linebacker target for the class of 2022 has announced his decision date.

4-star LB Jalon Walker announced on Twitter this week that he would be committing to a school on Sunday, March 28th. Walker has a final six that consists of Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, North Carolina, Auburn and Georgia.

Things are looking good for Clemson football heading down the stretch, but the Tigers have to close out

Nothing is a given in the world of recruiting, but the Tigers are in as good of shape as any as we head down the stretch of Walker’s recruitment.

He still has basically a full month before he makes a final decision, but every indication points towards him choosing Clemson when it’s all said and done.

Currently, there are three 247 Sports recruiting insiders who have placed crystal ball predictions on Walker, all of which point to the Tigers. All three of them- Anna Hickey (Clemson 247), Michael Clark (NC State 247) and Tom Loy (Notre Dame 247)- have their prediction listed with a ‘high confidence.’

Walker, a native of Salisbury, NC, is ranked as the No. 50 overall player in the nation and the No. 4 OLB in the country. He is rated as the No. 2 overall player from the state of North Carolina, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

Clemson has seemingly been the favorite in Walker’s recruitment for a while and him choosing to make an announcement would tend to tell us that it bodes well for the Tigers. That being said, teams like Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia are still recruiting him hard and will all likely make more pitches to him and his family before the decision date.
