Trevor Lawrence is going to be the first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

There is no debating that at this point after the workout that Trevor Lawrence put on Friday for NFL general managers and head coaches.

Trevor Lawrence showed all of those in attendance exactly what most of us knew – he is a once in a lifetime talent and any team that passes on him will set their franchise back even further.

Lawrence is going to be a millionaire the day his name is called if he isn’t already. Companies like Nike. Adidas, Under Armour, will get into a bidding war for him, hair care companies will do the same. He will make more money from his endorsements during his first five NFL seasons than he will from being the first pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

Those are all the great things about being a generational sports talent.

Here are the not so good aspects of being a generational sports talent – first, he will have to play for a coach like Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer does not deserve to be associated with a talent like Trevor Lawrence. He has been a slime coach his entire career and that isn’t going to change because he is an NFL head coach. If you need proof, simply look at the fact that he hired Chris Doyle and then defended doing so when the uproar began almost instantly.

You are a great representation of who you surround yourself with and over his coaching career, he has surrounded himself with terrible people and Trevor deserves better than that.

Another not so good aspect to being a generational sports talent is having to play for crap franchises – like the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That said, Jacksonville has not been all that bad. They do have a playoff appearance over the last five seasons and have drafted really well. Their biggest issue is retaining the young talent that they draft. No one wants to come back to Jacksonville after their third or fourth seasons, so they trade away guys they should be building around.

NFL veterans and agents notice that and if have no desire to go to a franchise that has shown the history of not paying their drafted talent. Hopefully, Trevor can change the perception of Jacksonville and guys will want to play for him.

His first couple of years will be rough in the NFL – think 2019 and 2020 Deshaun Watson in Houston. Hopefully, sooner than later the Jaguars will realize that Urban Meyer is a terrible coach and human being and will get Trevor a coach that takes him to the next level.

We hate what is happening to Deshaun in Houston, let’s hope that the same thing doesn’t happen to Trevor in Jacksonville.
