More people think Florida State is a blueblood over Clemson football

The Clemson football program has made more CFB Playoff appearances than any other program not named Alabama and the Tigers have won two of the last five National Titles, while appearing in three of the last five National Championship games.

Though it’s still a ‘small sample size’ compared to some of the other dynasties that have happened throughout the history of College Football, no one can deny that Clemson football is among the top teams in the country currently and it doesn’t look like the Tigers are going anywhere soon.

Every year, Pick Six Previews releases polls asking fans to vote on if they consider certain programs ‘bluebloods’ or not. This list includes all major programs who are having success in today’s game and those that have had major success in the past.

A ‘blueblood’ is considered the class of College Football and not very many consider Clemson football to be a part of that group

In Pick Six Previews’ latest Twitter polls, just around 28 percent of voters said that Clemson football was, indeed, a blueblood. In a poll that received around 6,200 votes, that’s about 1,800 people who voted in favor of the Tigers.

While it’s not surprising that Clemson wouldn’t be considered a blueblood by many- after all there is a jealousy from other fan bases surrounding the Tigers and, admittedly, Clemson hasn’t been around for very long- it’s a little ridiculous to see that the number increases when the question is asked about ACC rival Florida State.

About 32 percent of voters said that Florida State is a blueblood. Nearly 7,000 people voted in that poll, meaning that around 2,240 people voted yes for the Seminoles and what sense does that make?

Florida State has the same amount of claimed national championships (3) as Clemson and less conference titles (18 to the Tigers’ 26). During FSU’s run in the 1990s and early 2000s, the Seminoles won nine-straight (with shares in two of the years). Clemson has now won six-straight conference titles.

There’s also something to be said about CFB Playoff appearances and what that should mean when considering programs as bluebloods moving forward.

Still, programs like Nebraska, USC, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, LSU and Michigan rest on their laurels of yesteryear while the vast majority of them have no relevance in today’s game.
