Clemson football Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott gauging interest of potential assistants at Tennessee

Clemson football Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott is extremely interested in taking on the Head Coaching position at Tennessee, according to the latest report.

There have been plenty of rumors swirling for the last week about the potential for the Clemson football program to lose its offensive coordinator and that seems to be slowly coming to fruition.

Rivals’ Mike Farrell reported Saturday that the Tennessee job was Elliott’s if he wants it.

Though Farrell’s report should come as no surprise, the latest from Clemson football insiders was that Elliott had not had any contact with Tennessee. However, a lot can change in just a matter of hours.

Brent Dougherty- a co-host on 104.5 The Zone (the flagship station of the Tennessee Titans & Tennessee Vols)- reported that Elliott has reached out to potential assistant coaches to gauge interests if he were to take the Tennessee job.

It’s becoming a bit more real for Clemson football fans that Elliott might not be in Tiger Town come the fall

It’s not to say that Dougherty’s sources are right or that he’s not being led on. It’s also not to say that Elliott might show interest and ultimately turn the job down because of all the unknowns facing the Tennessee football program- like potential NCAA sanctions.

But it’s becoming more and more real that Elliott is at least interested.

Despite all the rumors, he hasn’t come out and refuted any reports that he is interested. He hasn’t made any statement in terms of him being completely sold out to Clemson for another year.

It’s not to say that still can’t happen, but the more we’re hearing, the more it seems there is interest from both parties and that there’s becoming an increasingly large potential that we see Elliott leave Tiger Town before it’s all said and done.

Next. Clemson could benefit from expanded CFB Playoff. dark

Nothing is a done deal and there’s still a lot to be sorted out, but it seems there are some leanings and that’s not necessarily in the favor of Clemson football.
