Clemson football could have a dangerous weapon on its hands in 2021

The Clemson football program received outstanding news Monday evening when CB Derion Kendrick announced he was coming back to school for one more season.

It has long been thought that Kendrick would leave for the NFL after this season and it came as a bit of a surprise when rumors began to surface that he was leaning towards coming back for another year.

ESPN’s Todd McShay had Kendrick going to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first-round of his latest 2021 NFL Mock Draft.

Kendrick spent some time in Dabo Swinney‘s ‘love shack’ and was held out of games a couple of times this season. There were also portions of times when he was on the field and Clemson football fans just didn’t see the same play-maker as they saw in the previous year.

That being said, a focused Derion Kendrick is a dangerous weapon for Clemson football and that can’t be denied

Say what you want to about last season. That’s in the past.

Kendrick is clearly focused and he’s not looking ahead to the NFL. He’s going to come out with a better approach this offseason and we can certainly expect that he’ll continue to mature and develop as we progress towards the start of the 2021 season.

He has more that he wants to accomplish at this level, including getting his degree.

There’s no doubting Kendrick’s athleticism.

There’s no doubting his ability to cover and the potential for him to become an absolutely elite cornerback. The only thing standing in his way is him and this decision shows us that he is focused on getting better and leaving this Clemson program on a high note.

He has superstar potential and I have a feeling we’re going to see a breakout year from him this time around.
