Clemson football could get another starter back on defense for one more season

The overall consensus from Clemson football fans is that Derion Kendrick would be moving on to the NFL following this season, but that’s not necessarily the case.

Kendrick didn’t have the year that many had hoped he would and he stayed in Dabo Swinney‘s ‘love shack’ all too often throughout the fall. The end result saw him held out of a few games and it didn’t seem like we got the same execution from him at the position as what we had saw in the previous year.

That being said, no one can argue the talent that Kendrick possesses.

While most media members who have followed Clemson football and fans alike expected Kendrick to declare for the NFL Draft, he hinted on social media that we might very well see him return.

LB James Skalski posted a video on Instagram and Twitter announcing that he’d be returning for an unprecedented sixth year. One of the comments under the video? From Derion Kendrick.

"“Yessuh right beside my brother again,” Kendrick wrote on Instagram."

There’s no doubt Clemson football would love to have another year with Kendrick

Say what you want to about the comment and what he ultimately decides to do, as well as his season this past fall.  There is one thing we all can agree upon: A focused and driven Derion Kendrick is a force to be reckoned with.

If Clemson football can get a fully-committed Kendrick to buy in and play up to his potential, you’re talking about trouble.

Kendrick has the athleticism and the confidence to play the position at a high level. Now, it’s just about having the focus, paying attention to the details and becoming sold out to playing with physicality and smart energy every single play.

There’s no doubt Clemson would love to have another year with Kendrick and it would be great to see him come back and achieve that All-American status that we know he is capable of grabbing.

In addition to Kendrick, we’re still waiting on official announcements from several other Tigers who should be making their decisions known soon.
