Trevor Lawrence completely snubbed, named third-team AP All-American

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence may be the best player in the nation to those who judge talent for a living, but the Associated Press certainly doesn’t think so.

The AP released its All-American teams for the 2020 season and Trevor Lawrence was nowhere to be found on the first-team or the second-team. Instead, Lawrence- who is set to be the unquestioned No. 1 overall pick in this coming spring’s draft- was slotted as the third-team quarterback.

He was placed behind Alabama’s Mac Jones (first-team) and Florida’s Kyle Trask (second-team).

Interestingly enough, Jones was one of five Alabama players to make the AP’s first-team offense. The Crimson Tide are the first team ever to have a quarterback, running back and wide receiver on the AP’s first-team.

Anyone who watches more than box scores knows that this is a complete snub for Trevor Lawrence, but we’ve come to expect nothing less.

Clemson fans likely aren’t going to be happy with Trevor Lawrence’s Heisman finish, either

It’s funny to think that both Jones and Trask- the two quarterbacks placed ahead of Lawrence by the AP voters- aren’t even the best players on their own team.

As a matter of fact, one might think that Jones is as low as fifth on his own offense. But, yet, somehow he’s the first-team All-American quarterback from the AP.

If you’re not happy about Lawrence’s AP All-American placement, you’re probably not going to be happy about his Heisman finish, either.

While the voting population changes slightly and becomes smaller, many AP voters have Heisman votes, as well. If we can learn anything from this All-American team, it’s that the media isn’t buying Trevor Lawrence over a player like DeVonta Smith or even Mac Jones who put up more impressive stats in the box scores.

dark. Next. OSU fans should direct anger at Big Ten, not Dabo Swinney

Outside of Lawrence, Clemson had just one other player make the list: RB Travis Etienne, who was voted as the first-team All-Purpose player.
