Trevor Lawrence’s legacy rests on these final appearances

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has a chance to leave the program as one of the greatest of all time, but much of that will rest on these final few appearances.

We all know that Trevor Lawrence is going to leave the Clemson football program as one of the top quarterbacks of all time.

He’s the first Tiger- and just one of two College Football players in history- to lead a team to a National Championship as a freshman. To the point of this writing, he has lost just one game and he has led Clemson to two ACC Championships and two CFB Playoff appearances.

But, make no mistake about it: His ‘greatness’ will be remembered for what he’s able to accomplish in these final few moments.

Trevor Lawrence has a chance to leave Clemson as one of the GOATs

There’s no doubt that Trevor Lawrence has a chance to leave here as one of the GOATs. Just as we said earlier, he has won a National Championship, he has competed in two National Title games, he has won two conference championships.

But there’s another level of greatness that Lawrence can achieve over the course of these next few appearances- particularly Saturday night against Notre Dame- that would put him in rarified air.

Here’s what we’re talking about: If Lawrence loses to Notre Dame on Saturday, there’s a chance that the Tigers won’t compete in the CFB Playoff. There’s also a chance that this would actually be his last game in a Clemson football uniform altogether. He’d still accomplish the feat of being the program’s first ever No. 1 overall pick, but you’re talking about a lot left there that could’ve vaulted him up the ladder.

But what if he wins?

If Trevor Lawrence beats Notre Dame- and let’s say he has a big performance- he could potentially become the Heisman Trophy winner. Voters are basing their votes off the regular season and the conference title game, so there’s a good chance that if Lawrence has a big-time performance on the brightest stage, he’d gain a ton of votes and could become the program’s first-ever Heisman Trophy winner.

Then, he’d be the first QB in Clemson history to lead the Tigers to three-straight CFB Playoffs. But what if he continues to win? If Lawrence somehow was to lead Clemson to a National Championship, you’re talking about the first QB in Clemson history to ever win two National Championships.

He could potentially leave with these feats:

  • Two National Championships (three appearances)
  • Three conference titles
  • Only one loss in his starting career
  • A Heisman Trophy
  • The first Tiger ever drafted No. 1 overall

Oh, and he did pretty much save College Football altogether for the 2020 season.

Next. 2021 signees coming to start immediately. dark

Trevor Lawrence has a chance to cement his legacy at Clemson beyond what many could’ve ever imagined, but it all rests on these final few appearances.
