Clemson football isn’t scared of Ohio State and, honestly, neither is anyone else

It’s looking more and more likely that if Clemson football wins the ACC Championship that the Tigers will match up with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the CFB Playoff.

The Clemson football team has some unfinished business to settle in Charlotte against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and that’s certainly a matchup the Tigers could lose, which would mean they’d miss the CFB Playoff altogether.

That being said, if Clemson wins the most likely scenario is that the Tigers move up to No. 2 in the country and they play against the No. 3 seed. Who would that be?

Well, with the Big Ten’s decision to remove its rule that a team has to play at least six games to be eligible for the conference title game, it’s looking more likely that the Ohio State Buckeyes will claim that spot by playing just six total games.

It’s an advantage for Ohio State to have played nearly half a season less than Clemson football, but let’s not pretend the Buckeyes have been dominant

Coming into the 2020 season, many thought Ohio State was the most talented team in the nation but they certainly haven’t looked the part yet.

The Buckeyes beat a terrible Penn State team by just 13 points (38-25). They gave up 27 points to Rutgers and barely survived a game against the lone ranked team they played all season in Indiana in a thrilling 42-35 victory.

Yes, OSU has talent. Yes, they’ve got one of the best quarterbacks in the country. But let’s stop with this narrative that Clemson- or Alabama or Notre Dame or anyone else- is scared of playing the Buckeyes.

People are upset that OSU is getting a free pass to the CFB Playoff based off the fact that the Big Ten has made bad decision after bad decision and yet, the playoff committee just looks past that.

People are upset that there have been teams like Texas A&M, Florida and even Cincinnati that have played nearly a full season while the Buckeyes have played a measly five games and, yet, they’re getting a push.

Everyone talks about Clemson having that one loss. Well, if the Tigers had stopped playing after five games, they’d be a perfect 5-0 and would just have come off a win over a top-10 Miami team. Talk about a little change of perspective.

The truth is that a team that has played half a season doesn’t deserve to be in over teams that have played full seasons. It has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with fairness.
