Clemson football set for emotional Saturday vs. Pittsburgh

Clemson football fans will be gearing up for an emotional Saturday when they see the Tigers take the field against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Well, really it will be before the Tigers take the field against the Panthers.

There are just a few times every single year that draw significant tears for Clemson football fans and they’ll come during the same weekend this year- as they have for the last few years- when the Tigers celebrate both Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day on the same afternoon.

We’ll see the Clemson football team don its purple jerseys for the matchup and, though it will be a little different than normal, no one does Military Appreciation Day better than the Tigers.

In addition to celebrating those who have fought for our country- both past and present- we’ll also see many Clemson football seniors run down the hill for their last time Saturday afternoon.

Though many Clemson football seniors may be returning, for some this is it

Dabo Swinney didn’t give a list of seniors that he felt would be returning and those who would be moving on, but we do know that we can expect some of these seniors to return as this 2020 season doesn’t count against their eligibility.

That being said, we know for a fact that- unless something major changes- that Amari Rodgers, Travis Etienne and Trevor Lawrence will both be gone after this season.

There are others- such as James Skalski, Nolan Turner, Cornell Powell, Cade Stewart, Darien Rencher, Nyles Pinckney and Baylon Spector, just to name a few- who have a decision to make, but very well may be looking at their final time running down the hill on Saturday.

No matter what each individual decides, this senior class should absolutely be celebrated on Saturday. If they beat Pitt, they’ll be the first class in Clemson football history to go undefeated at home.

They’ve won championships, led by example and have left this program a better place as a result of their hard work.
