Could the Clemson football game against Pittsburgh be in jeopardy, as well?

The Clemson football team is scheduled to be back in action this Saturday afternoon for Senior Day against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The Tigers and Panthers will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. E.T., but if we’ve learned anything from last weekend’s cancellation, it’s that nothing is for certain until the ball is actually kicked off.

The Clemson football team had already made the trip down to Tallahassee before Florida State elected to call the game off amidst concerns of a positive test that made the trip. The Tigers had followed all of the ACC’s protocols and had even gone above and beyond with amenities like a huge tent set up in the parking lot and nine buses (for just 80 players) to allow for social distancing. Let’s also not forget that FSU played a game with Pitt just a couple of weeks ago when the Panthers had a positive test surface just hours before kickoff.

It still didn’t matter and the game was canceled.

So, it brings up a legitimate point: Could the Clemson football game this weekend be in jeopardy?

Pittsburgh was without 16 players this past weekend and that could lead to trouble for Clemson football being played this weekend

The most players for the Panthers to miss a game this season was last week against Virginia Tech with those 16 out. Pitt doesn’t disclose to the public how many of those are positive tests, but you’ve got to imagine that figure is due to some contact tracing and the like.

With that being said, if the Panthers suffer any more positives and have more contact tracing, they may begin to closer to the number for postponement.

There’s also a chance we could see some bodies not available at Clemson this weekend due to the positive test they saw this past Friday and subsequent contact tracing and the like.

The game remains on for now and you’ve got to believe that both teams will play as long as they are able to, but we found out this weekend that just because you meet the requirements and the ACC’s medical staff clears you to play doesn’t mean you’ll be able to take the field.

With those players out at Pitt and what we saw from Clemson football this weekend, it’s something we at least need to have on our radar as we progress through this week.
