Clemson football continues to separate itself from the rest of college football.

After an absolutely dominating performance against the University of Miami on Saturday night in Death Valley, Clemson football continues to pick up votes in the AP poll.

Just like the start to 2019, Clemson football was the number one team in the country according to the voters of the AP Top 25. Just like 2019, the Tigers enter week seven of the college football season undefeated.

Unlike 2019, the 2020 version of Clemson football remains atop the AP Top 25 heading into week seven. There are 62 voters in the AP Top 25 poll and after the 25 point win over Miami, the Tigers received 59 of the 62 first-place votes.

Two voting members voted Alabama number one despite the Tide giving up almost 700 yards of offense to a terrible Ole Miss team and one vote went to UGA who once again struggled early with their opponent before pulling away in the second half.

AP poll will never matter to Clemson football.

We all know the AP hasn’t mattered since the start of the College Football Playoff era. We all know that the AP Top 25 is nothing more than water-cooler talk and gives fans something to argue over Monday morning.

I think the reason that Clemson football fans still look at the AP Top 25 poll is that it is still the one entity that doesn’t give the Tigers the respect that they have earned on the field. Sure, when you have won as much as Clemson has over the last 10 years, there are going to be local media voters that simply don’t like the way you do things.

Tigers left no doubt Saturday night in Death Valley. dark. Next

We all love underdogs until they start winning. If the underdogs live long enough to see themselves become champions, they also see themselves become hated as well, which is exactly where Clemson football is at the moment.
