CBS analyst changes Clemson football as his National Championship pick

It didn’t take long for Clemson football to go from the clear-cut favorite to now an underdog in the National Championship hunt for the 2020 season.

When it was announced that the ACC, Big 12 and SEC would begin their seasons in the fall despite the Big Ten and Pac-12 canceling their fall sports, Clemson football soared up the leaderboards as the easy pick for the National Championship.

Now, though, with the Big Ten and Pac-12 back in play, analysts are beginning to change their minds on the outcome of the CFB Playoff, which is still slated to begin in late December.

CBS Sports Analyst Barrette Sallee, who originally had Clemson football as his National Championship pick, is just one of the national analysts to switch from the Tigers in lieu of the Big Ten’s announcement.

Sallee now has Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma making it to the semifinals with the Tigers and Buckeyes advancing to the National Championship game. He has Ohio State beating Clemson for the National Title and he has Trevor Lawrence winning the Heisman Trophy.

Ohio State is going to become the darlings of the national media, and there’s really no other way around that.

The Buckeyes return a ton of talent- led by Justin Fields– from last year’s team and DB Shaun Wade just recently announced that he’ll be opting back into the season, as well.

With that talent- and a shorter schedule- Ohio State is simply going to be the favorite in a lot of minds as we progress towards the CFB Playoff, but that doesn’t mean anything once we get on the field.

This 2020 Clemson football team has an opportunity to be special and there’s little doubt at this point that they’ll be matching up with Ohio State at some point in the postseason.
