Predicting records for every ACC team, including Clemson football

The 2020 Clemson football teams enters the season as one of the favorites to win the National Championship and, of course, the unquestioned favorite to win the Atlantic Coast Conference yet again.

The Tigers have won a grand total of five-straight ACC Championships dating back to 2015 and nothing seems to be standing in their way from winning yet another one, perhaps outside of the pandemic.

As Clemson football continues to prepare for the upcoming season, here is our predicted record finish for every team in the ACC with a breakdown of their 10-game conference win-loss finishes.

*Note: For this exercise, we excluded the non-conference games because many programs are still looking to fill that spot. We do know from the announcement earlier this week that Clemson football will play The Citadel, but we’re just looking at the ACC games today*

Boston College Eagles (2-8)

  • Duke (L)
  • North Carolina (L)
  • Pittsburgh (L)
  • Virginia Tech (L)
  • Georgia Tech (W)
  • Clemson (L)
  • Syracuse (W)
  • Notre Dame (L)
  • Louisville (L)
  • Virginia (L)

Clemson Tigers (10-0)

  • Wake Forest (W)
  • Virginia (W)
  • Miami (W)
  • Georgia Tech (W)
  • Syracuse (W)
  • Boston College (W)
  • Notre Dame (W)
  • Florida State (W)
  • Pittsburgh (W)
  • Virginia Tech (W)

Duke Blue Devils (3-7)

  • Notre Dame (L)
  • Boston College (W)
  • Virginia Tech (L)
  • Syracuse (L)
  • NC State (W)
  • North Carolina (L)
  • Virginia (L)
  • Wake Forest (L)
  • Georgia Tech (W)
  • Florida State (L)

Florida State Seminoles (4-6)

  • Georgia Tech (W)
  • Miami (L)
  • Notre Dame (L)
  • North Carolina (L)
  • Louisville (L)
  • Pittsburgh (L)
  • NC State (W)
  • Clemson (L)
  • Virginia (W)
  • Duke (W)

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-9)

  • Florida State (L)
  • Syracuse (W)
  • Louisville (L)
  • Clemson (L)
  • Boston College (L)
  • Notre Dame (L)
  • Pittsburgh (L)
  • Miami (L)
  • Duke (L)
  • NC State (L)

In alphabetical order, these are the first five ACC teams and their predicted records when I look at their schedule. Most notably, Florida State is going to have some trouble in Year 1 with just a 4-6 record in the ACC- and honestly, that may be generous.
