Clemson Football: Early returns on Tiger freshmen through fall camp 2020
Early returns on Clemson football freshmen in fall camp 2020
The Clemson football team is moving into the thick of fall camp as we approach the scheduled start of the 2020 season and it’s clear that the Tigers are ready to get out and compete.
One of the most intriguing portions of every fall camp for Clemson football is the returns on incoming freshmen, but those are even more interesting this year. Why? Because a lot of them are likely going to be put into action.
Not only are we going to see a lot of freshmen get reps as a way to develop depth while playing amidst a pandemic, we’re also going to see many of these young Tigers on the field simply because they have earned the right to garner snaps.
Here’s a look at some of the notable freshmen who have reportedly stuck out during fall camp to this point with Clemson football.
Bryan Bresee
Following the first day of fall camp, Dabo Swinney didn’t shy away from the potential of Bryan Bresee and how versatile he truly could be for the Tigers.
"“In due time, at some point, (Bresee) is a guy I’ll throw a pass to, hand it to, play special teams, play three-technique, play nose, could probably get by playing some end if we had to,” Swinney said. “So I think as he goes through his career and regrows, there’s a lot you can do with him.”"
Bresee has been one of the biggest names to come out of high school in quite some time and he just looks like he is ready to play. Swinney said earlier that the Tigers are expecting to use him at defensive tackle, but it will be interesting to see if that changes with the news about Xavier Thomas.
Myles Murphy
The early returns on Myles Murphy are pretty simple: He’s a monster.
Murphy is going to have to fill the role of second-string defensive end for Clemson football this season and he’s going to be relied upon to make the most of his opportunities.
We expect him to do just that. He was one of the biggest winners from weigh-in day with a weight of 272 pounds.
