Clemson Football: ACC ‘absolutely’ intends to play in the fall, per CBS Sports
The plan is for Clemson football to play this fall
Clemson football fans hoping for a little bit of positive news in relation to the 2020 season got their wish Monday night with the latest report.
CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd reported Monday evening that his sources told him that the ACC ‘absolutely’ intends to play this upcoming fall.
This comes just a couple of days after Dodd reported that the cancellation of the 2020 College Football season this fall was ‘inevitable.‘
Several national reporters said the Big Ten was canceling its season and that the Pac-12 would follow suit shortly thereafter, but it seems the conferences are walking back those decisions currently.
Even if the Big Ten and Pac-12 do eventually cancel their season, it doesn’t seem that the ACC, SEC or Big 12 will necessarily follow suit. After all, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said that the conference could play alone this fall even if all the other Power-5 leagues elected to cancel.
The Clemson football team continues to prepare for the upcoming season
A lot of this is smoke-and-mirrors and the truth is that no reporter has a good grip on what’s going to happen, as can be seen with these contradicting and ever-changing reports.
No matter what you believe about the upcoming season, one thing is certain: The 2020 Clemson football team is moving forward with its preparation.
The Tigers are now in the midst of fall camp and are planning to open up their season in just a little more than a month, with an away game against Wake Forest.
A lot of things can change between now and then, but the overall vibe coming from the ACC at this time is that the conference plans to play. It will be interesting to see what happens and how it all plays out, but the conference took another step in the direction of playing Monday with its meeting.
