Clemson Football: Kirk Herbstreit gives more positive outlook on 2020 season
Clemson football fans, along with Kirk Herbstreit, are hoping for a 2020 CFB season
While we’ve been given virtually no indicators at this point what a Clemson football season could look like this fall, there is still hope that somehow we’ll be able to see the Tigers take the field at some point this academic calendar.
Some have held out hope that a season will start on time. Others believe the season will be delayed, but will start in the fall. Still, many others think a spring season is the best case scenario and that the chances of College Football being canceled altogether remain high.
No matter where you fall on the spectrum, we can all still see that the Clemson football team- along with programs across the country- is still preparing to play a season.
Interestingly enough, one of College Football’s most prominent analysts has changed his tone a little on the prospect of playing the season.
Kirk Herbstreit said earlier this spring that he would be ‘shocked’ if we saw CFB this season, but has since walked back those comments, at least a hair.
Herbstreit provides a little bit more positive outlook for Clemson football fans
Though Herbstreit still believes the season will likely be postponed, he seems fairly confident that we will see College Football played, even if that means not starting until the spring.
"“In about two weeks is when I think they’ll have to get to a deadline. By the end of July or early August, as much as they’re trying to push this thing down the road, they have to make the decision,” Herbstreit said on SportsCenter. “If they say ‘hey guys, it’s too dangerous and there are too many risks. We can’t play college football this fall,’ I don’t think — I would be surprised if they canceled (the season). I think they would keep postponing, keep pushing and hoping that at some point, the data starts to come down. Because as you know, the data, it just about seems almost every day, is higher and higher.”"
There are still plenty of questions when it comes to being able to play College Football and Herbstreit still obviously has his doubts.
Though nothing is for sure at this point, it is still encouraging to hear from one of the nation’s most-recognizable CFB Analysts that there’s still hope. College Football officials haven’t given up on the season yet and, from what Herbstreit is saying, they’re going to try their best to get a season in at some point.
Will we see Clemson football play on Labor Day weekend? Well, that still remains up-in-the-air, but Tiger fans still have legitimate hope that a season will be played at some point, even if that means it’s postponed a few weeks or months.
