The disrespect for former Clemson football QB Deshaun Watson has to stop

Deshaun Watson is the greatest player of all-time in Clemson football history, and it’s not really even all that close.

Watson led the Tigers to two National Championship appearances, including a National Title in the final game of his Clemson football career. In addition, he was a Heisman finalist twice and set all kinds of statistical records along the way during his three seasons with the Clemson football program.

Despite all the success we’ve seen Watson accumulate, there are some who still doubt him- both in terms of his collegiate legacy and his NFL ability.

Clemson football fans know just how talented Deshaun Watson is.

First, there’s the Pro Football Focus poll that asked about the best CFB quarterback of the decade and it left Watson off the list completely.

PFF includes Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, Marcus Mariota and Joe Burrow as their choices, but no one even takes into account the fact that Watson accomplished just as much as all of these guys, other than the Heisman (which we will all know is a popularity award anyway).

And then there’s these NFL MVP odds from Caesars Sportsbook that don’t even have Watson as one of the top-five to be considered for the award. Watson is ranked behind guys like Dak Prescott and Tom Brady.

It’s really not about one specific list or a poll, though.

For Watson’s entire Clemson football career- and through his professional career to this point- he has always been incredibly undervalued.

Analysts told us how drafting Watson ahead of Mitch Trubisky would be a major mistake. How’s that work out for them?

Watson recently said that he believes he should’ve won back-to-back Heisman Trophies- and he has a good argument. But, instead, he was slighted on both occasions.

People have disrespected Watson for far too long. It’s time to realize that he was one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in college and he is developing into a prime-time NFL quarterback, as well.
