CFB Analyst predicts Clemson vs. Oregon in CFB Playoff

The Clemson football team enters the 2020 season as one of the odds-on favorites to compete for a CFB Playoff berth.

The Tigers return talented players- led by Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne– and have a favorable schedule to get back to the playoff for what would be a sixth-straight season.

Though there are still questions about what the 2020 Clemson football season will look like, one analyst has picked the Tigers to be one of the four teams to be in the CFB Playoff.

Pick-Six Previews released its prediction for the CFB Playoff semifinal games and the publication has Clemson as the No. 1 seed taking on No. 4-seeded Oregon on one side of the bracket with No. 2-seeded Ohio State taking on No. 3-seeded Florida on the other side of the bracket.

Some new competition for Clemson in the CFB Playoff, perhaps?

This is an intriguing prediction, no doubt. Pick-Six Previews has only one SEC team in the playoff field and that’s Florida- an SEC East team. That would mean we would have to see something spectacularly crazy happen in the SEC West- perhaps with Alabama and LSU both finishing with two losses and not winning the conference.

Clemson and Ohio State, obviously, aren’t bold predictions, but Florida and Oregon certainly are.

The Ducks are slated to take on the Buckeyes early in the season- assuming the game doesn’t get cancelled- which means they would have to run the table in this scenario and finish 11-1 following the loss to Ohio State for this to happen.

The truth of the matter is this: It’s Clemson, Ohio State and then everyone else.

Once you get past the Tigers and Buckeyes, there are a plethora of teams you could make an argument for ranging from Alabama to Oklahoma to Oregon to Florida to USC to Georgia to Penn State and beyond.
