Clemson football has two freshmen who are capable of big things immediately

The depth on the Clemson football defensive line may be great, but there are two freshmen who don’t care: Former 5-stars Bryan Bresee and Myles Murphy.

Though Bresee and Murphy didn’t have a full spring to get their legs underneath them in the Clemson football program, all accounts say that the two freshmen were more than impressive in their performances.

Just looking at the drills, you can see a difference.

Murphy is taller than his defensive end counterparts. He towers over guys and looks like an absolute monster. Bresee is much of the same. Though he worked mostly at defensive tackle, the thing that sets him apart is his versatility and ability to get the job done with finesse or just with pure power.

Murphy, Bresee will find a way to be on the field for Clemson football

As we said earlier, the depth on the defensive line is steep. The Tigers have plenty of veterans returning headlined by Tyler Davis, Nyles Pinckney, Jordan Williams, Justin Foster, K.J. Henry, Xavier Thomas, Justin Mascoll and Darnell Jefferies.

All of those players received playing time last season and are now looking to find a way to compete this time around.

Even though there’s plenty of depth and talent, one thing has become apparent: Bresee and Murphy are simply too good to keep off the field.

Don’t be surprised when the two freshmen are lining up beside one another in Game 1 of the season. Don’t be surprised if Bresee or Murphy is on the field with the game on the line. Don’t be surprised if the two freshmen account for several big-time plays.

They’re going to play and they’re going to be worked into the rotation. There’s really no other way around it.
