Does Clemson football have its next defensive back target?

The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings.

The Tigers just recently picked up their 13th commitment of the cycle in 4-star DE Zaire Patterson. As we head into the thick of summer, the Clemson football coaching staff will turn its attention specially to addressing the defensive backfield.

The Tigers currently have one commitment from 4-star DB Jordan Hancock, but are looking to add somewhere in the vicinity of two more before the cycle is over.

One of the major targets remaining is 4-star CB Nyland Green.

Green, a 6-foot-2, 183-pound cornerback from Covington, GA, is currently ranked as the No. 8 cornerback in the nation and the No. 10 overall player from the state of Georgia.

Green has been heavily recruited by many of the major programs from around the country and remains high on the wish list for a bunch, including Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee.

At this point, it would seem that Clemson is the team to beat. Green currently has three crystal ball predictions from the 247 Sports’ Recruiting Insiders and they all say Clemson will likely be his destination. That being said, it doesn’t seem that a decision will be made any time in the near future.

The key for Clemson football will be getting him back on campus as soon as possible. The Tigers have ramped up communication with the talented cornerback over the course of the last month and it’s clear that he is likely their No. 1 priority when it comes to the defensive backfield.
