Dabo Swinney has taken the Clemson football program to heights that most never dreamed of and there are plenty of NFL teams who should’ve taken notice.

Let’s start this post out by saying that Dabo Swinney isn’t going anywhere for a long time.

Swinney, who has now won two National Championships as the Head Coach of the Clemson football program, just agreed to a 10-year contract worth $93 million with quite the buyout to remain the coach of the Tigers for the foreseeable future.

That being said, it’s still fun and interesting to think about potential hypothetical situations. Could Dabo Swinney excel in the NFL? Would he enjoy the work environment?

If Swinney were able to go to the NFL- in a completely hypothetical situation- what franchises could use him most? Here are five NFL teams that would absolutely welcome Dabo Swinney with open arms.

5. Detroit Lions

We’re going to start out the list with a franchise that has been under performing and out of the playoff picture for quite some time: The Detroit Lions.

Lions’ Coach Matt Patricia enters this season on the hot seat and there’s a lot of speculation about his future with the organization following this season.

The Lions are similar, in a lot of ways, to what Clemson was when Swinney took over. Detroit has the fan base and resources to be successful, but hasn’t had the right leader at the helm to make winning decisions.

Swinney would come in and, in my opinion, would have Detroit competing for playoff contention within three years of taking over.
