NFL Insider predicts who will draft Trevor Lawrence

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the first pick in the 2021 NFL draft and NFL insiders are already predicting where he will land.

It is great to be wanted and Trevor Lawrence will have a lot of people wanting his services should he decide to come out and enter the 2021 NFL draft. While no one knows for sure if he will, teams are already lining up to call his name.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter made his prediction on who the team that will land the services of his generational talent and most people in the Clemson family are hoping it does not happen.

Wednesday afternoon, Schefter tweeted this picture of the Cleveland Browns drafting Trevor Lawrence. If this happened, it would be the second time in four years that the Browns will have used the first overall pick to take a quarterback.

If you remember, the Browns took quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first pick in the 2018 NFL draft. Baker has done a better job arguing with TV personalities than he has at leading an offense loaded with NFL talent.

Of course, the biggest issue with landing in Cleveland would have to be playing for a franchise that has no direction. They may have the best fans in the NFL, but their ownership and front office may be among the worst in professional sports.

The Browns have taken three quarterbacks at number one in their draft history – Bobby Garrett, Tim Couch, and Baker Mayfield. Those quarterbacks are a combined 34-48 as starting quarterbacks for the Browns. If you think Deshaun Watson having to deal with Bill O’Brien is a train wreck, this would be even worse.

Let’s hope for one of three other scenarios to play out.

  • Trevor decides he loves Clemson too much and wants to play his fourth and final season.
  • The Browns aren’t the worst team in the NFL and someone else is able to draft him.
  • A team like Patriots gives up loads in order to move into the first spot and they draft Trevor.

Obviously, scenario number one is the most ideal for the Clemson family as we would love to see Trevor stay as long as possible, however, if he does decide to come out, let’s hope a much better franchise trades up in order to land the services of one of the best to ever play college football.
