Bashaud Breeland’s future in KC could be in doubt

We love when former Clemson football players make headlines, except when they are ones like we saw Tuesday evening with Bashaud Breeland.

Former Clemson football players and current Super Bowl champion Bashaud Breeland is making headlines for the second time in a month and despite what the Kardashian family says, not all headlines are good headlines.

A month ago, Breeland and the Chiefs announced a deal to bring back their starting corner on a one year $4.5 million contract. The $4.5 million would double his career earnings as he had made just $4.5 million over the first six years of his career.

With a Super Bowl championship and the new contract in hand, Bashaud has been on top of the world in 2020.

Until Tuesday night.

"Reports came out late Tuesday that he had been arrested and charged with “resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license.”"

Like every athlete does in 2020, according to ESPN.com, Breeland took to twitter to claim his innocents saying that a couple of men threw things in his car.

Though, he has since removed the tweets. You can find screenshots of them on twitter.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Chiefs take with this stance. The new NFL/NFLPA contract removed testing for marijuana use and since he was not charged with a felonious amount of marijuana, will they handle discipline in house, release him or suspend him for a game or two.

All of those are a possibility at the moment for the Chiefs, who have stated that they are conducting their own investigation before moving forward.

Let’s hope that Bashaud understands what he has to lose and will use this opportunity as a wakeup call so he can continue doing what he loves and playing football at that elite level.
