The Clemson football fanbase had to wait a little longer than they would’ve liked to hear Isaiah Simmons’ name called during the 2020 NFL Draft.

Former Clemson football LB/S Isaiah Simmons was selected with the No. 8 overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2020 NFL Draft Thursday night.

Simmons, the most versatile defensive prospect in the draft, has the ability develop into an All-Pro at the next level.

There’s a spot on the field that he can’t line up and be successful and his freakish athleticism- combined with his physicality- will allow him to be a mainstay with the Cardinals.

Here’s a look three teams who’ll regret passing on the talented Clemson football linebacker.

3. Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions had the No. 3 overall pick and there was a little bit of thought that they could go after Simmons.

Instead, they chose to make the safe pick and take the No. 1 overall cornerback in the draft in Jeffrey Okudah.

You can’t fault the Lions too much for addressing a need in their defensive backfield with an extremely talented cornerback, but Simmons has a much higher ceiling than many understand and I think we’ll see the Lions look back and wish they had selected Simmons right there because of what he means for the future of the NFL defense.
