Will the 2020 Clemson football offense be the best in school history? There’s a lot to live up to, but there’s nothing stopping them from making history.

The 2020 Clemson football team enters the season as one of the favorites to win the National Championship.

One of the major reasons why has to do with the amount of talent returning on the offensive side of the ball.

As we take a look ahead at the upcoming season, the question remains: Will the 2020 Clemson football offense be the best in school history? Afterall, we’ve seen a ton of really talented offenses in the past few seasons.

First, there was that explosive 2011-13 offenses- led by Tajh Boyd– that had players like Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins, Martavis Bryant, Charone Peake, Andre Ellington, Dwayne Allen and others on them.

Then, there was that 2016 Clemson football team that brought home the National Championship. That offense was led by Deshaun Watson and had players like Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, a young Hunter Renfrow, Wayne Gallman and others.

And who can forget that 2018 Clemson football team that won yet another National Championship? Led by freshman Trevor Lawrence, that offensive unit had Renfrow, Travis Etienne, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers.

Fast-forward two seasons, though, and all of those players are older. Other than Renfrow and Higgins, everyone from that 2018 team is basically back.

The Tigers now have the perfect storm: Depth, Talent and Experience all mixed into one package. This 2020 offense reminds me most of the 2016 team because of the fact that they were coming off a loss in the National Championship and had so much returning. Because of that, they set all kinds of records.

Expect that to be the case with this 2020 team, as well.

There are potentially six first-rounders in the 2021 NFL Draft on this offense alone with Lawrence, Ross, Etienne, Rodgers, Jackson Carman and Braden Galloway all lining up together. There’s plenty of young talent behind those guys, as well.

If you’re looking for explosiveness and excitement, this 2020 offense is going to be one to watch. They have the talent to do things we’ve never seen before and reach heights never attained by another Clemson football offense.
