Though many fans remain down on A.J. Terrell, the Clemson football cornerback is consistently soaring up NFL Draft boards ahead of the big event.

A.J. Terrell did not have the kind of ending to his Clemson football career that most would’ve liked to have seen him have.

Terrell headed into the National Championship game with one task: Guard LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase. It just couldn’t be done.

Throughout the game, many began to criticize Terrell for his play and that carried over into much of the offseason, but the truth of the matter was this: Terrell didn’t play as horrible as many believe.

As a matter of fact, he played about as good of coverage as a defensive back could play and the receiver- Chase- just made a better play. It had nothing to do with position- at least not in every case- it had more to do with a talented WR consistently making plays and a QB who just simply couldn’t do any wrong.

Though Clemson football fans have spent the vast majority of the spring believing that Isaiah Simmons may be the only first-round pick for the Tigers this year and that Tee Higgins is the only other ‘fringe prospect,’ the truth tells a different story.

Terrell may almost be a lock for the first-round at this point and it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll be the second Clemson football player taken off the board behind Simmons.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler said Terrell could end up being a top-16 pick before it’s all said and done.

It’s not just about these comments from Brugler, either. More and more NFL Insiders are beginning to include Terrell in their first-round projections.

While he was being mentioned as low as the third-round before, it’s clear that his NFL Combine performance and film speak to the fact that he is a cornerback with plenty of potential and upside.

Next. Tee Higgins will be the steal of the NFL Draft. dark

First-round potential? Well, it’s looking more promising as we head into the home stretch of the pre-draft process.
