The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class has an opportunity to be special. The Tigers just received another crystal ball in their favor.

The 2021 Clemson football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings.

The Tigers have commitments from several 4-stars, as well as 5-star DE Korey Foreman- who is considered the No. 1 player in the nation.

While the Clemson football program is currently ranked among the top in the country, the Tigers are in great position with several other top targets.

247 Sports Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction for 4-star LB Barrett Carter and has the talented prospect trending towards Clemson.

In addition to Wiltfong’s prediction, three other 247 Sports recruiting analysts put in predictions for Carter to Clemson this week.

Carter, a native of Suwanee, GA, is ranked as the nation’s No. 4 OLB and the No. 6 overall player in the state of Georgia. He was considered a heavy Georgia lean for quite some time, but it does seem that things have swung in the Tigers’ favor as of late.

Carter is one of just a handful of outside linebackers that Clemson has offered in this class and is clearly one of the Tigers’ top priorities early in the recruiting cycle. Clemson plans to take at least two linebackers in this class- with potential for three- and the Tigers already have one commitment from 5-star Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

At this point, it would seem that the coaching staff- specifically Brent Venables- got its first choice in Trotter Jr. for the ILB group and they are now heavily pursuing Carter as their top priority at OLB.

If they get a commitment from Carter, we’ll likely see the Clemson football coaching staff zero-in on a couple more linebackers in the cycle, depending on how scholarship numbers look.
