How are the Clemson football wide receivers shaping up after the ending of spring practice? Here’s our analysis and post-spring depth chart projection.
The Clemson football team had its spring practice sessions cut short, but that didn’t stop the Tigers from getting a lot accomplished during the time they were given.
As the Clemson football players continue to move forward working out remotely and getting ready with the hopes for a season, we will take a look at how each position is shaping up post-spring.
Here’s a look at our post-spring depth chart and analysis for the wide receivers.
Post-Spring Depth Chart Projection:
X- Justyn Ross
- Frank Ladson Jr.
- EJ Williams
Analysis:
There’s certainly going to be some platoon work at the wide receiver position throughout this season. Though you see Justyn Ross and Joseph Ngata listed at the same spot on the depth chart (boundary), there will be times where we see both wide receivers lined up on the field at the same time.
By the same token, I think we could see a guy like Frank Ladson Jr. play both the slot (Y) and the field (Z) position at times, but this is how the depth chart is projecting following the spring.
Cornell Powell was the most impressive of any receiver- according to the Clemson football coaching staff- so you have to believe that he’ll be getting the nod at the starting position right now alongside Rodgers and Ross.
Freshman EJ Williams could also see time at all three positions, but will likely stay outside for the majority of his snaps.
Ajou Ajou, a 3-star WR who shows a ton of potential, will join the group at some point in the future and adding him to the mix could give the Tigers much-needed depth at the position.
