When we do have Clemson football, Tiger fans should absolutely never take for granted another game in Death Valley again.

It hasn’t even been two full weeks yet, but it’s clear that Clemson football fans- along with sports fan all across the nation- are missing athletics in the worst kind of way.

There’s questions all across the spectrum as to when sports will return and it doesn’t seem that it will be anytime soon.

That being said: When Clemson football does return and Tiger fans are allowed to return to Death Valley, things should never be the same again.

Over the course of the past few seasons, I’ve seen far too many times where Clemson football fans have taken the winning for granted.

How many times have you gone to a game against a lesser opponent and seen the corners of the stadium empty or patches across Death Valley without any people? How many times have you seen a blowout at halftime lead to portions of the stadium filing out and The Hill looking rather empty by the midway point of the third quarter?

The answer: Too many.

I don’t care if it’s an FCS team or a nationally-ranked powerhouse, there is no excuse anymore for Tiger fans to take games for granted. There’s no excuse to show up and show out every single Saturday that we have an opportunity to fill out Death Valley. And there’s no excuse to leave early and file out just to beat the traffic or score some extra tailgating time during a blowout.

There’s just no excuse anymore.

If this time without sports has taught me anything, it’s that I am actively choosing to be grateful for everything and that includes sports.

If we do have a College Football season this year, I fully expect to see a full Death Valley each week. I expect Tiger fans who are sitting at home watching on the television to tune in and actively watch. I expect Clemson football fans to be excited about the prospect of playing each and every game, no matter the opponent.

Whether you’re in the stadium or at home, there should be a change in how we look at Clemson football and at sports moving forward because as we’ve learned through these past two weeks: Nothing is given.
