Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney went live on Facebook Wednesday to give Tiger fans all kinds of updates pertaining to the program.

In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney spent some time answering questions pertaining to the program Wednesday afternoon.

Live on Facebook, Swinney addressed several questions and spent time talking about the program moving forward. Most importantly, he said that all the players were safe and that he wanted to encourage Clemson football fans- and people everywhere- to take advantage of the opportunity to grow and to keep everyone who has been negatively affected in our thoughts and prayers.

Football, as Swinney said, will take care of itself.

In addition to Swinney promoting all of us to come together (not literally, of course) during this time, he also gave some insight as to how the Clemson football program is operating.

Here’s a look at a few of those major points:

  • The coaching staff is meeting virtually and having several staff meetings. The greatest concerns for them right now are continuing to make sure everyone is in a good place mentally and that academics are going as they should.
  • Swinney said the players are still getting virtual tutoring appointments and that many of them already have a few online classes, so it won’t change a ton on that front.
  • Swinney said he would be in favor of OTAs- or minicamps- for College Football if things were able to get back underway as a way to get players on the field- not in pads- just to install system work.

In addition to addressing how the program is operating, Dabo Swinney said there is certainly ‘concern’ about football season- as all other sports have been put on hold for the time being- but that he is hopeful everything will get better soon and that safety is the No. 1 priority over anything else.

"“There is certainly concern, but instead of being concerned, I am just being faithful and just trying to keep my eyes on the Good Lord and know that something great is going to come from all of this,” Swinney said. “Also, just keeping all those in my thoughts and prayers that are really struggling. I mean this is a tough time, and I am just hopeful that it will be over sooner rather than later and we can step up and make a difference for those people who have been negatively impacted by all of this.”"

Swinney is encouraging everyone to pray for those across the world who are being affected and to listen to experts moving forward on the best way to prevent the spread of this virus.
