The Clemson football team is considered one of the favorites to win the 2020 National Championship and the NCAA has the Tigers ranked as No.1.

The 2020 Clemson football team is bringing back a ton of talent, along with an experienced coaching staff, and the Tigers are considered one of the favorites to make the CFB Playoff.

With players like Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Tyler Davis, Justyn Ross, Amari Rodgers, Jackson Carman and others joining a talented freshman class, it’s certainly easy to see why so many analysts are high on Clemson football.

Though the 2020 season is still more than five months away, the NCAA released its preseason top-25 rankings and had the Tigers ranked at the top.

Here’s a look at the top-15, according to the NCAA.

  1. Clemson
  2. Ohio State
  3. Alabama
  4. LSU
  5. Georgia
  6. Oregon
  7. Oklahoma
  8. Penn State
  9. Florida
  10. Auburn
  11. Notre Dame
  12. Oklahoma State
  13. Texas A&M
  14. Texas
  15. Michigan

Analysis:

The highest-ranked opponent on the 2020 Clemson football schedule is currently Notre Dame, who comes in at No. 11.

The North Carolina Tarheels, who are considered the favorites in the ACC Coastal, are ranked No. 17. At this point, no other teams on Clemson’s schedule or in the ACC are ranked, though that could change following a few weeks into the season.

That match-up between the Tigers and Fighting Irish in early November could very well be a classic. We could be looking at a situation where both teams are ranked inside the top-10- and potentially even higher- when that game in South Bend is played.

Just like the 2019 season, though, it should be noted that Clemson won’t have much help when it comes to its current slate of opponents. The Tigers will likely need the win over Notre Dame to bolster their schedule and could need to go undefeated again to make the CFB Playoff.

dark. Next. Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Of course, Clemson will start out in good position. The Tigers are considered the favorites for a reason and there’s no reason to believe that we won’t see Trevor Lawrence and Co. competing for yet another National Championship.
