The Clemson football team was listed as the No. 1 seed in Bleacher Report’s created 16-team CFB Playoff field for the 2020 season.

The 2020 Clemson football team is considered one of the favorites to win the National Championship and much of that has to do with the amount of talent featured across the field for the Tigers.

In the spirit of March Madness, Bleacher Report released a projected 16-team CFB Playoff field for the 2020 season with what it would look like should the playoff field expand.

Confirming what we’ve said all along, Clemson football was listed as the No. 1 seed.

Here’s a look at the 16 teams, according to Bleacher Report.

  1. Clemson
  2. Ohio State
  3. Alabama
  4. Oklahoma
  5. Florida
  6. Texas
  7. Notre Dame
  8. LSU
  9. Georgia
  10. Minnesota
  11. Oregon
  12. Auburn
  13. UCF
  14. Texas A&M
  15. Penn State
  16. Iowa State

Obviously, this field was constructed as if things were going by rankings and not including automatic berths and caps on wildcards, as it would have to be if an expanded playoff was truly constructed.

If this was the field, it’d be interesting to see match-ups like Clemson-Iowa State, Ohio State-Penn State (rematch), Oklahoma-UCF and Texas-Oregon in the first-round. We’d then see opportunities for the Tigers to play a team like LSU or Georgia in the second-round while Ohio State would likely have Notre Dame.

Adding some of these match-ups would certainly present excitement for the average College Football fan, but there would have to be major changes made to the regular season and conference championship weekend to add games to the schedule.

Next. Trevor Lawrence seems destined for Panthers. dark

In the end, a playoff expansion is still likely years down the road and a lot can happen between now and then. Clemson football fans need to enjoy this time of unprecedented success and enjoy the ride because it all can come to an end at any time.
