Clemson football will be front and center in 2020 and Braden Galloway will be one that everyone in the nation will be talking about.
There is no doubt that Clemson football missed what Braden Galloway brings to the table. No offense to a guy like JC Chalk who stepped up in Galloway’s absence, but their skill levels are not equal nor is what they bring to the table.
Expect for Braden Galloway to have the same type of meteoric rise offensively that Isaiah Simmons had in 2019 on defense. To quote Galloway he is “too fast for linebackers to cover and too big for corners to stop”.
In other words, he is a game-changer for the Clemson offense and quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
There are quite a few similarities between Simmons and Galloway. Both are from small towns in smaller states, they have bigger body types for their position and speed to match, they both got to Clemson as unheralded three-star prospects that the Clemson football coaching staff saw more in than other national programs and like Isaiah Simmons, Galloway has the talent to play and exploit other teams at multiple positions.
While we have no idea when Galloway will declare and leave Clemson, like Isaiah Simmons, he will be among the first couple picks taken at his respective position and will impact the game a lot like guys like Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz and Jimmy Graham have during their careers.
When Galloway was being recruited out of Seneca high school, he had talked about how Coach Swinney likened him to Jordan Leggett and a lot of people at that time had a hard time seeing it. We all know how great Leggett was on those 2015 and 2016 teams and how much he meant to Deshaun Watson, so that type of comparison turned heads.
As has been the case over the last 10 years, Coach Swinney was able to see through the raw athlete and project who they would be after buying into the Clemson way and he nailed another one.
The 2020 college football season is going to be a fun one and with the added dimension that Braden Galloway brings to the Clemson offense, expect records to be shattered and games to be bigger blowouts.
