The common consensus from most analysts is that Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Though most analysts consider Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence the clear No. 1 overall prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft, there are some who are allowing the conversation to be had about other players.

Eleven Warriors’ Kevin Harrish shared that at least a few NFL coaches wouldn’t be surprised to see Ohio State QB Justin Fields push Lawrence for that top spot.

Harrish then went on to say that he believes Lawrence- referring to him as a dog breed- would still likely go No. 1 overall, but that Fields would be the better quarterback.

"“I’m still fairly certain that the Afghan Hound will end up going No. 1 overall, but that doesn’t mean Fields isn’t better,” Harrish said. “He’s bigger, more athletic, faster and honestly looked noticeably better throwing the ball the entire season. There’s a reason why he was the one that was a Heisman Finalist and is currently the Heisman frontrunner.”"

Thoughts:

Honestly, Ohio State analysts can believe whatever they want, but to make Fields look like this unstoppable force and Lawrence just an overhyped bust is completely inaccurate.

I mean, the two played head-to-head. Do you remember that?

Trevor Lawrence completed 18-of-33 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns and no picks against what many believed was ‘the best Ohio State defense of all-time.’ Oh, and for Fields to be so much faster than Lawrence, we shouldn’t forget that the Clemson football QB rushed 16 times for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Fields, on the other hand, had just a 6.9 yards per attempt average and threw just one touchdown to two interceptions. The QB rating? 88.3. That’s compared to Trevor Lawrence’s 92.0.

Oh, and let’s not forget that 4-play, 94-yard drive that Lawrence led the Clemson offense on that proved to be the game-winning drive.

Stop pretending that Fields is better than Lawrence.

Yes, he’s a good quarterback, but Lawrence has the measurables, arm strength and talent that NFL scouts are looking for, and a franchise would be absolutely foolish to pass up on Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft knowing what potential he possesses.

Next. DLU is back, deeper and better than ever. dark

Fields is a talented athlete and quarterback. He has a great chance to be successful at the next level. But Trevor Lawrence is best quarterback prospect since Peyton Manning and anyone who actually watches the games can see that.
