The Clemson football program has its eyes set on some big-time prospects in the 2021 recruiting cycle and 5-star Tony Grimes is one of them.

The 2021 Clemson football recruiting cycle is in full-swing with the Tigers beginning to lock-in on certain top prospects.

The Tigers are set to take around two cornerbacks in the class and one of the top targets for Clemson football is 5-star CB Tony Grimes.

Grimes, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 CB, has accumulated offers from basically every major program in the country and is still in the early stages of his recruitment. He has unofficially visited several different schools and has garnered offers from more than 40 programs.

Grimes visited Clemson back in October of 2018 when the Tigers first offered him. He also made the trip to Clemson is May of 2018.

The Tigers will be hoping to get the 5-star CB back on campus for another visit this summer and then an official visit this fall. If Clemson football can attract the talented cornerback back to campus, there’s a solid shot the Tigers become one of his top schools and they’ll be in the conversation until the end. It’s all about getting that visit, though, and continuing the success we’ve seen from this program on the recruiting trail.

Grimes shows elite coverage ability and certainly has the ability to be a starter from Day One. He projects as a first-rounder and is one of the top cornerback prospects to come out of high school in quite some time.

Currently, he is expected to make a decision during the Early National Signing Period, but that all can change depending on how his recruitment goes over the spring and into the fall. It will be interesting to see which programs have the elite corner’s attention when he releases a leader list at some point in the next few months.
