Even though the Clemson football team will take on LSU in the National Title game, Lou Holtz believes the best team sitting at home.

The Clemson football team will take on the LSU Tigers Monday night in the National Championship game.

Both programs step into the game with perfect 14-0 records and are looking to come away with a win on the biggest stage of them all when the National Title is broadcasted live from New Orleans across the ESPN network.

Though the Clemson football program is on a 29-game winning streak and even though LSU may have the best offense in the history of the sport, according to many, neither team is considered the best team of the 2019 season according to former ESPN analyst Lou Holtz.

Holtz told TMZ Sports earlier this week that he believed the Alabama Crimson Tide was the best team in the nation during the 2019 season.

"“I think LSU is the best [in the title game], but to me, Alabama was the best team, but they aren’t going to be playing in the championship because to win, you’ve got to be lucky,” Holtz said."

Holtz alluded to the fact that Alabama suffered injuries that cost them as the season progressed. That being said, it’s a completely ridiculous statement.

Alabama lost at home in Tuscaloosa to LSU. The Crimson Tide gave up 46 points to the Tigers and didn’t look dominant or anything close to the way they’ve looked in the past in the match-up. Alabama was also later beat by in-state rival Auburn to close the regular season.

The Crimson Tide even struggled to put away Michigan for a while in the Citrus Bowl. Yes, I understand there were injuries- including one to Alabama’s best player in QB Tua Tagovailoa– but to say that Alabama was the best team in the nation when Clemson, LSU and Ohio State clearly were more complete and better teams in 2019 is utterly laughable.
