The Clemson football program lost a great coach in Jeff Scott. Here’s our ‘thank you letter’ back to Coach Scott in appreciation of his time with the Tigers.

Coach Scott,

It’s been a great ride and the Clemson football program owes you a ton of gratitude for the job you did since taking a position on the staff back in 2008.

We at Rubbing the Rock would like to thank you for the time you spent working countless hours, traveling across the country and giving your best in everything to help build the program into what it is today.

When Coach Scott was hired, the Clemson football program was in disarray.

Many within the Tiger fanbase weren’t happy with the decision to hire Dabo Swinney as the next head coach and so any assistant taking a job with Coach Swinney knew that there was a certain amount of risk that came with the territory.

Through the entire ride, though, Coach Scott was there.

He took over as the Wide Receivers coach and then later took on the role of ‘Recruiting Coordinator’ in addition to his work with the wide receivers. In 2014 when Chad Morris moved on to SMU, Scott was promoted with his colleague Tony Elliott to work as a co-offensive coordinator.

What happened after that move is absolutely spectacular.

The Tigers went on to win five-straight ACC Championships, compete in four-straight CFB Playoffs and win two National Championships. Scott will also have the opportunity to be a part of the run this season as Clemson football tries to reel off another National Championship and make its fifth-straight trip to the playoff.

In addition to your work on the field, you were one of the most talented skill developers in the country, becoming instrumental in the Tigers’ successful recruiting ventures. There’s no doubt that those skills as well as your character, personality and love for the game will translate into great success at the University of South Florida and beyond to wherever your career takes you and your family.

Next. CFB Playoff couldn't have made it easier for LSU. dark

From all of us here at Rubbing the Rock and for the rest of Clemson football nation, we’d like to express deep gratitude for what you’ve done and wish congratulations as you and your family take this next step in the journey.
