The Clemson football team will take on in-state rival South Carolina next weekend. Here are the early Vegas odds for the Palmetto Bowl.

In just a week, we’ll see the Clemson football team play its final regular season game of 2019.

The Tigers are currently on a 26-game winning streak and are ranked No. 3 in the nation, according to the CFB Playoff rankings.

The Clemson football team won’t just be seeking its sixth-straight win over in-state rival South Carolina, the Tigers will be looking to accomplish the feat of back-to-back perfect regular seasons.

Here’s a look at the early Vegas odds for the Palmetto Bowl matchup, courtesy of the Action Network.

Early Vegas Odds vs. South Carolina:

Opening Line: South Carolina +24.5

Thoughts:

The Gamecocks come into this one as 24.5-point underdogs. Interestingly enough, we believed that spread would be quite a bit more considering Clemson football has been favored by 30 or more over the course of the past few games and South Carolina has lost its last two- to Appalachian State and Texas A&M.

Of course, anything can happen in rivalry games.

South Carolina has nothing else to play for following this matchup. The Gamecocks are 4-7 and won’t be going to a bowl game no matter what happens in this one, but they’d love nothing more than to play spoiler to Clemson’s perfect season and ruin the Tigers’ CFB Playoff hopes.

The truth is, even though Clemson comes into this one as the more talented team, the Tigers will need to be laser-focused. South Carolina will be as emotionally fired-up for this one more so than any other game this season and, if they get any kind of momentum, we could see a closer game than most Clemson football fans would like.

After all, just a few years ago in 2015, the Gamecocks were an onside kick away from making things pretty interesting down the stretch.

Clemson has more talent and depth, but the Tigers will need to show up focused and look to get out to an early lead to take the wind out of their rival’s sails.
