Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence told the media Tuesday morning that he had reached out to Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa following his injury.

Trevor Lawrence has led the Clemson football program to a perfect 11-0 record to this point in the season.

Lawrence, who is considered to be one of the top NFL Draft prospect for the 2021 NFL Draft, was asked about the awful injury suffered by Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa last week against Mississippi State.

Lawrence told the media he had reached out to Tagovailoa following the injury wishing the best and offering prayers for him and his family.

"“I hate it for him,” Lawrence said via The Clemson Insider. “I met him over the summer and I wouldn’t say we’re super close but we are definitely friends. I send him a text every now and then, so I shot him a text when I saw it. Just praying for him and his family. It’s just a hard situation because I see what Coach (Nick) Saban is trying to do. It’s still the second quarter trying to get some reps. So I understand it but it’s also unfortunate and sucks that happened. I’m definitely praying for him and hate it for him and the whole program.”"

Tagovailoa- who led the Crimson Tide to a come-from-behind victory in the National Championship two years ago against Georgia and then led Alabama back to a National Championship appearance before losing to Clemson last season- was expected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in this coming year’s NFL Draft.

After suffering an ankle injury this season and having surgery, he rushed back into action and played the entire game against SEC West rival LSU, ultimately resulting in a 46-41 loss. Tagovailoa was a game time decision against Mississippi State, but was injured in the second quarter with the Crimson Tide up 28 points.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban said the drive when the injury occurred was going to be the last one of the day for the quarterback. Before the injury, Tagovailoa had put up monster stats, throwing for 2,840 yards and 33 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Lawrence said that he and Tagovailoa were connected together at the Manning Passing Academy last summer. The two talked about their faith and became acquaintances through the experience.

dark. Next. Studs and Duds in the victory vs. Wake Forest

We wish Tagovailoa wish him nothing but the best moving forward and offer our thoughts and prayers to both him and his family. He is a high-character player and is one of the best competitors in the nation.
