Clemson football RB Travis Etienne made history when he broke the record for all-time rushing touchdowns in a career against Wofford Saturday afternoon.

Travis Etienne set the record for all-time rushing touchdowns in a career for Clemson football when he scored his 48th touchdown to break James Davis’s previous record of 47.

In the first half of the Tigers’ rout of Wofford, Etienne had eight carries for 207 yards and two touchdowns, an average of 25.9 yards per carry.

Etienne’s first rushing touchdown of the game came with 5:53 left in the first quarter on a 47-yard run.

After Clemson football was forced to punt up 21 points, Etienne burst up the middle and made a man miss. After that, he was off to the races and took it 86 yards to break the record and put the Tigers up 28-0.

In addition to Etienne breaking the all-time record for rushing touchdowns in the Clemson football program, he is on pace to reach some other remarkable feats.

At this point, Etienne has more than 3,300 yards rushing, which has him approximately 500 yards away from breaking the all-time record set by Raymond Priester (3,966 yards) for the all-time rushing mark.

Over the course of these next three regular season games, Etienne would become less than 200 yards away from the record with an average of 100 yards or more per game. That certainly should be manageable with NC State, Wake Forest and South Carolina on the docket. None of those three teams have shown the capability of stopping elite rushing attacks all season long.

Assuming the Tigers win, they’d still have the ACC Championship game and up to two more games in the CFB Playoff.

Etienne is also on pace to break the record for career yards per carry as he boasts a career average of 7.8.
