Clemson football RB Travis Etienne was seen limping late in the game after a run in the fourth quarter. Here’s the injury update on the Tiger RB.

Clemson football RB Travis Etienne had himself a day, rushing 14 times for 192 yards and a touchdown, against the Louisville Cardinals.

Etienne gashed the Louisville defense throughout the afternoon and had his biggest run of the day late in the third quarter when he came up with a 49-yard touchdown that put the Tigers up 24-3 and seemingly sealed the win for Clemson.

Early in the fourth quarter, though, Etienne came up limping after a run and didn’t return for the remainder of the game. Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney told the media after the win that Etienne was okay and that he could’ve gone back in the game if the Tigers had needed him.

The wise decision, of course, for Clemson football was to keep Etienne out of action for the remainder of the afternoon and give him an opportunity to rest before the Tigers take on Boston College next week.

Thoughts:

Etienne certainly looked banged up, but it’s good news that he’s okay and didn’t suffer any major injuries or a sprain. He carried the Tiger offense for much of the afternoon and helped get the unit going after an extremely slow start.

From all accounts, it also seems that Clemson OG John Simpson is okay after sustaining an ankle injury. Simpson had ice on his ankle after turning it early in the game. Matt Bockhorst played in his place and did an excellent job along the interior of that offensive line.

Overall, it seems that the Tigers came out of Saturday’s game relatively solid on the injury-front.
