5. Place-kicker competition

Dabo Swinney announced that Steve Sawicki would be the starting place-kicker on short-yardage field goals and extra points following BT Potter’s disappointing miss in the Florida State game.

Potter has missed a couple of chip-shot field goals during the season and Swinney was clearly livid following that miss. After the game, Swinney explained that Potter is a very talented kicker, but he wasn’t focused or ready to kick a field goal.

It will be interesting to see if Sawicki gets a chance early in the game and to see how the Tigers use Potter.

He will still be the kickoff specialist, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the sophomore still get an opportunity to right the wrong from last week at some point in the game.
