Former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson didn’t take the Texans’ loss lightly. He came back after the game to shore up some areas he was unhappy with.
Deshaun Watson has always been known for being a great college quarterback while at Clemson. Now that he is the starter for the Houston Texans of the NFL, he wants to prove that he is one of the elite signal-callers of that league as well.
And he hates losing.
The Texans were 2-1-0 going into Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers. A win would have catapulted them into sole possession of first place in the AFC South Division. Two of that division’s teams would end up losing, so Houston was set up for the division lead.
But the Texans lost 16-10 in a dismal offensive display. Houston gained only 264 yards on offense and what was worse, Watson was sacked six times.
To pile on, the Panthers committed four turnovers, yet the Texans could only muster 10 points.
Watson would finish the game going 21 of 33 pass attempts for a mere 160 passing yards with zero touchdowns and he tossed one interception. His QB rating was a pathetic 16.4. Watson’s numbers haven’t been that low since, well, never.
As clean-up crews were busily taking care of their business, hours after the final ticks of the clock had completed the game, Watson returned to the empty stadium’s field in sweats along with QB coach Quincy Avery. The two began doing some workouts.
All of this was captured on video by Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle who was still in the stadium’s press box (as most of the media usually remain for a while doing their articles) and took some video of Watson, and then posted on twitter:
Deshaun Watson took this loss to heart and is already making corrections. Hours after the game, he remains at NRG Stadium working with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery.
Watson’s 2019 season has been up and down.
Last week he was the AFC’s Offensive Player-of-the-Week while this week was a disaster against a very stingy defense. And apparently, after a horrible game, he wanted to get right back into whatever the problems and issues are and attempt to correct them.
Now, if he could just correct his inept offensive line.
