The Clemson football team will return to Death Valley for a night game a couple of Saturdays from now, according to the latest game time announcement.

The Clemson football team will head up to Syracuse this weekend to take on the Orange in the first ACC match up of the season. The Tigers and Orange will match up at 7:30 p.m. on ABC in the Carrier Dome.

Following the away game, Clemson football will head back home for a match up with Charlotte. It was announced Monday afternoon that the Tigers and 49ers will play at 7:30 p.m. live on the ACC Network.

This will be the third night game for the 2019 Clemson football team in four weeks. The Tigers hosted Georgia Tech to open the season on a Thursday night before playing Texas A&M at 3:30 p.m. last Saturday.

Thoughts:

This game had already been pegged down as a noon kickoff or, at best, a 3:30 p.m. match up by most Clemson football fans.

The Tigers generally always play a lower-level opponent in September and it has typically always been either in that 12:20 p.m. slot or at 3:30 p.m. on rare occasions. I can’t remember the last time, though, that the Tigers got a night game for an FCS opponent.

But, thanks to the new ACC Network, we very well could see a few more games at night for the Tigers against these lower level opponents.

The ACC Network is going to select Clemson football any chance it gets. The Tigers’ games against other ACC opponents will typically be selected by ESPN, ESPN U or ABC before the ACC Network gets its selection, but these lower level games that used to fall to Raycom Sports or a network of that level are now going to be on the ACC Network.

The network is also going to look for opportunities to put Clemson in that prime position when possible. Death Valley at night is always fun, no matter the opponent, and that should be the case in two weeks when the Tigers return home for a match up with the Charlotte 49ers.
