SEC Analyst Paul Finebaum said that Jimbo Fisher was a better coach than Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney on his show Monday afternoon.

SEC Network Analyst Paul Finebaum has reached a new low in his latest discussion of Clemson football and Dabo Swinney.

On his Monday afternoon show, Finebaum said that if he were starting a football program, he’d take Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher over Dabo Swinney.

Swinney, who has led the Clemson football program to two National Championships in the last three years and has split with Alabama in the last four years of the CFB Playoff, has set the SEC on fire, sending Finebaum into hopeless rant after hopeless rant, each becoming more crazier than the last.

As a way to attempt to prop up the SEC- which just had one of the worst weeks in the history of the conference to open up the 2019 season- Finebaum said he would take Fisher. He said that Dabo Swinney is a good ‘cheerleader’ but that Fisher is the better X’s and O’s coach.

Finebaum has said some questionable things, but this one just takes it to another level.

First of all, let’s just do some basic math.

Dabo Swinney has two National Championships and has appeared in four-straight CFB Playoffs.

Jimbo Fisher has one National Championship and just two CFB Playoff appearances. Swinney also has a winning record (5-4) head-to-head against Fisher.

We should also point out that Swinney’s success with the Clemson football program led to Fisher bolting to the SEC to get away from the Tigers. Fisher left Florida State with an absolutely bear cupboard along the offensive line and the Seminoles have yet to recover, and probably won’t under Willie Taggart for quite some time.

This isn’t a knock on Jimbo Fisher. This is pure facts. Dabo Swinney is the better coach. As a matter of fact, you could make the argument that Swinney is the best coach in College Football. He has built the program from the ground up and has done an excellent job recruiting, developing and maintaining staff. Honestly, he’s done all of those things better than any coach in the country.

If you were starting a program today, you’d be absolutely stupid- as Paul Finebaum likes to say about other people– to select anyone but Swinney. Fisher has never proven that he can build a program and maintain it for a consistently long time. Yes, he had success at Florida State for a few years with Jameis Winston and then what happened? They fell off the map.

Swinney is on the verge of making his fifth-straight CFB Playoff and has won the ACC the past four years as well. Swinney also has a 10-3 record against the SEC since the inception of the CFB Playoff, by the way.

Fisher is a great coach, but this is just another attempt from Finebaum to somehow discredit Clemson football and make SEC fans feel better about the state of their top-heavy conference.
